TRANSITIONAL League new revelation Austin Muwowo was the star on Sunday evening when Zambia came from behind to beat neighbours Malawi 4-2 on penalties in the COSAFA Cup quarter final match.

Before the southern African hosted tournament, Forest Rangers’ young star had been a great revelation in the Zambian transitional league scoring 11 goals to emerge joint top scorer.

Chipolopolo were two nil down with 50 minutes played in the game before the winger pulled one in the 59th minute to give the four-time champions some hope of coming back in the game.

Muwowo’s goal-scoring prowess in the 2019 transitional league has brought the former under-20 star under the spotlight with a number of clubs reported to be after his signature.

Some South African top South African clubs, among them Orlando Pirates, are believed to be chasing after the former Rangers players who is still loaned out from Nkana.

Muwowo has, however, indicated his intention of permanently leaving Nkana with the 2019 COSAFA now proving to be a bigger platform for the young star, who has already shone in the local league. The Forest Rangers winger is expected to start in coach Aggrey Chiyangi’s crucial COSAFA Cup semi-final match against neighbours Zimbabwe in a match dubbed ‘Battle of the Zambezi’ tomorrow
