SOCCER players should always draw a map for their expenditure and have an action plan in their financial matters, says FAZ deputy general Secretary Joseph Chimpampwe.

Chimpampwe said players needed to set targets for them to overcome financial distress.

He was speaking during the Barclays Bank organized financial literacy training for five super division clubs on Thursday as part of the legacy of the 2019 ABSA Cup.

And Barclays Bank head marketing and corporate relations Mato Shimabale urged the players never to sign any contract without understanding it.

During the panel discussion the participants had an opportunity to listen to the life experiences of former national team stars.

The discussants comprised of 1996 Africa Cup of Nations bronze winner and former Olympique Marseille and OB Odense star Andrew Tembo, Harry Milanzi and Linos Chalwe.

Meanwhile Footballers and Allied Workers Union (FAWUZ) general secretary Linos Chalwe urged the players to plan for the after-football playing career.

Chalwe advised players to save for the future and not spend their money at once and unwisely.

And ZANACO FC General Manager Marlon Kananda hailed Barclays and FAZ for the initiative that had given players insight of financial matters.

Kananda advised the participants to take the financial literacy training seriously and avoid falling victim to destitution in future.

The five clubs that attended the workshop were Zanaco, Green Eagles, Nkwazi, Red Arrows and Kabwe Warriors.

According to FAZ communication manager Mwazi Chanda, another literacy workshop will be held on the Copperbelt next week.
