A LUSAKA man has been ordered to pay K6,000 penalty for virginity damage in the Chilenje Local Court.
Benedicto Phiri, 38, of Ng’ombe Township, was sued for virginity damage by Lizili Ncube, 65, also of Ng’ombe.
Ncube said in 2005 Phiri took his daughter to live with him as his wife.
He said he tried his best to call Phiri and his relatives to discuss, but they never came.
“We never charged him because he didn’t come. I want him to compensate me with K8,000. He has delayed and inconvenienced me,” Ncube said.
The case was heard by senior local court magistrate Ackim Phiri.
Phiri said he was in a relationship with Ncube’s daughter and cohabited with her for two years before she got pregnant.
He said they had three children together but he had not paid the dowry.
Phiri said he would pay the money and pleaded with Ncube to reduce the amount.
“I know I damaged his daughter, but the K8,000 he wants will take me long to finish paying,” he pleaded.
Magistrate Phiri ordered the man to pay K6,000 compensation for damage with the first installment of K1,000 effective June 28, 2019.
