MAYOR Miles Sampa has called for disbanding of Lusaka City Council FC for gross indiscipline.
Sampa said instead the council should rely on the reserve side to complete the fixtures.
His demands come after seven Lusaka City Council FC players were arrested on Sunday and later released for allegedly roughing up assistant coach Nchimunya Mwila over salary arrears.
But Sampa who is patron of the club expressed disappointment over the incident, and said the beating of a coach was indiscipline at its best because he had also not been paid.
“That was indiscipline at its worst, I have also not been paid but I am not beating anyone. I demand that management at the club disband the senior team for indiscipline and use the reserve team for the rest of the season,” he said.
Mr Sampa further noted that football players were like military personnel where discipline was always cardinal.
But Mwila has since dropped charges against the players who assaulted him over their eight months’ salary arrears.
The LCC sponsored side are sixth on the FAZ division one Zone one log and face a possibility of missing out on qualification to the inaugural National Division one league should they end the league in the same position.
According to the restructured league, the top team in each zone qualifies to the Super league while teams between second spot and fourth spots qualify to the newly structured National division one league.
