League champions coronation set

The coronation of the 2019 transitional league champions has been set for June 8, to be played at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) communications manager Mwazi Chanda told   Sun sport that the soccer governing body had set Saturday, June 8, 2019 as the date for the coronation of the FAZ/MTN 2019 Transitional Super League champions. 

She said that Winners of Stream A who are Zesco United will play Stream B champions Green Eagles to determine the champions while runners up in Stream B, Buildcon will square off with Zanaco the runner up in Stream A.

Both matches will be played at National Heroes Stadium with the third and fourth play-off being a lunch-time affair.

During the transitional league, FAZ divided the teams into two streams to meet the strict five month-period before transiting to the CAF/FIFA calendar which will see the season commencing in August and ending in May.

Chanda said that Winners of the Super League will walk away with K500, 000 while the runners up will get K350,000.

All the teams in the Super League are entitled to K200, 000 under the revised deal that upped the package from K7,000.

Four teams have been relegated at the close of the transitional league namely MUZA, Circuit City, Kitwe United and Prison Leopards.

She said that the 2019/2020 Super League will have 18 teams as approved by the FAZ Council.
