A Mazabuka headman in Chief Mwanachingwala has been suspended with immediate effect by the traditional council for criticising government.

Council representative Jackson Mweene confirmed that Headman Cheelo was suspended after he criticsed government during a radio phone in programme.

Mr. Mweene said that traditional rulers had always been advised to find better ways  of addressing their grievances and   channels of communication.

He said that headmen should leave politics to politicians and remain neutral because they represented   different political affiliations in their respective areas.

“Chief Mwanachingwala feels betrayed by headman Cheelo who has been denouncing government on various live phone in programmes at different radio stations.

“How can a person holding a position like his decide to completely go political?” he questioned.

Mr. Mweene further warned that the action taken should serve as a warning to other traditional leaders who may try to use radio stations to fight the government of the day.

He said that it was wrong for the headman to attack and discredit government live on radio without thinking of the result it would come with.

He said   there was a proper channel that people like headman Cheelo would have followed, stressing that behaving the way he did was bad.
