OLYMPIC Youth Development Centre (OYDC) based ZedLion Taekwondo players on Saturday stole the limelight by putting up a great performance at the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.
In a statement, OYDC media officer Noah Silomba said that ZedLion, the athletes who train and conduct other activities at OYDC in preparation of local and other competitions, were this weekend part of the ongoing Tuelings competition.
The fights saw u-10 to u-17 categories taking part in the competition.
Meanwhile, Teulings Taekwondo coordinator Sydney Njala applauded OYDC management for well-organised league games at the centre.
Njala said the OYDC-organised Teulings Youth Sports Challenge comprises five sports disciplines – Swimming, Netball, Beach Volleyball, Taekwondo and Hockey.
He said support to different sports academies was ideal for talent identification and development.
Njala appealed to would-be Zambian sponsors to consider supporting the OYDC and identify sports disciplines which did nothave sponsors at the multi-sports facility.
The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge (TYSC) at the OYDC is sponsored by Coen Teulings, chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium.
The competition has been running at OYDC since 2011 and has seen a number of athletes selected to national teams and local and international clubs.
