ZAMBIA U-23 soccer national team last round qualifier against Congo Brazzaville which was slated for June 5 at the National Heroes Stadium had been moved September 5.

FAZ general secretary Adrian Kashala told the Sun Sport in a statement that the Confederation of African football (CAF) had decided to change the dates for the qualifier.

Kashala said that CAF had written to FAZ on the postponement of the qualifier to September 5 and that his Association had however engaged the continental body on the possibility of hosting the home match on either August 31 or September 1

“Following communication by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), FAZ wishes to inform the football family that the Total U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Zambia and Congo Brazzaville that was billed for June 5 will be played in September,” he said.

Kashala said that tickets already bought will remain valid with ticket sales continuing across Shoprite outlets across Zambia via Computicket.

Under-23 national team coach Bestone Chambeshi last week assembled some locally-based players in preparation for the game in Lusaka.

Zambia qualified to the 3rd round of qualifiers after defeating Malawi 2-0 on aggregate in March and was scheduled to face Congo Brazzaville on June 5.

But FAZ communications manager Mwazi Chanda said the team will not immediately break camp but continue. with the preparations
