CASH-STRAPPED Chilenje Nsolo Club has appealed to well-wishers to come to its aid by sponsoring its tournaments grow the traditional sport.
Chairman Elder Francis Nguluwe said that the club currently faced many challenges such like a leaking roof at the facility where the sport was played which also has no lights.
Nguluwe said that the biggest problem was the leaking roof which made playing Nsolo impossible during rainy seasons.
He said that the club had been in existence for some time now and had participated in different competitions such as the Nsolo Independence tournament which was officiated and sponsored by the then Minister of Youth, Sports and Child development then Vincent Mwale.
The club won the competition and Mwale gave it K1, 000 as a winning prize.
He said that the club also competed against other Nsolo clubs like Mtendere, Kalingalinga, Matero and Kaunda square.
Nguluwe said that the club has about 8 players though the number kept on fluctuating.
He said members paid monthly contributions K5 which went towards the running of the club and also to help in situations when a member had bereavement.
He further said that despite the challenges the club faced, it had continued to thrive and advised the young ones to also take interest in the sport as it was not only for the old or those in the villages.
