TWELVE-TIME Zambia Super league champion Nkana’s quest to return to Continental football will today take another test when they face inform Nkwazi at Edwin Imboela stadium in Lusaka.
Nkana face Nkwazi after beating relegation-threatened FC MUZA 2-1 on Saturday.
On the other hand Nkwazi who surrendered its top slot to Buildcon and later Green Eagles will be looking to bounce back in the top two brackets in stream B after their barren draw against Green Eagles on Sunday.
Nkana have been under pressure this season following a congested fixture which saw the team playing in both the domestic league and continental competition simultaneously.
The Kitwe-based side has had to struggle with fatigue and injuries this season which saw the team struggle to pick maximum points.
It lost some home games with its heaviest defeat coming at the hands of Green Eagles who handed them a 1-4 e defeat.
A win against Nkwazi would push Nkana at par with NAPSA Stars in position number 6 on the log with 18 points but Nkana has 3 games less than NAPSA who have played 13 games out of the 14 played so far.
Meanwhile Nkwazi’s nemesis in today’s game will be the hope to continue with their fine form by beating Nkana to move to the second position on the log in stream B.
A win for third placed Nkwazi would push it to second position on 27 points, one point less than pace setters Green Eagles who have 28 points.
Nkana last beat Nkwazi at home in August 2015 and will be looking to break the winless jinx at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
The last encounter between Nkana and Nkwazi ended in a 2-2 draw at Nkana Stadium in October 2018 while the reverse fixture also ended in stalemate with both teams failing to find the back of the net at Edwin Imboela stadium in June last year.
