Zambia Super league stream A pacesetters Zanaco’s porous defence this season is worrisome and of concern, says Club General manager.

Speaking in the aftermath of Saturday’s 2-4 loss to Nakambala Leopards in Mazabuka, Zanaco General manager Marlon Kananda said he was worried with the defence of his team.

He said in their ambitious quest to play continental football, his team might need to reinforce its squad ahead of the new season in August.

“The defence is very worrying. If we need to reinforce we will do that. We are an ambitious club and we want to play continental football but we can’t be conceding like this if we want to play continental football,”  Kananda said.

Meanwhile Zanaco head coach Numba Mumamba expressed displeasure over what he termed his team’s lack of coordination in defense.

The Zanaco coach said that his team’s defence after a break in attack was pathetic.

He however refused to blame the condition of the Nakambala pitch for the poor performance and blamed it on his porous defence.

“I think it is just our poor defending which cost us. We have played in such pitches before, all we needed was to do the right thing at the right time but whenever we lost the ball our reverting into defending was very pathetic that is why we conceded the four goals,” he said.

Zanaco were handed a four nil shock defeat in Mazabuka by Nakambala Leopards with Junior Zulu, Simon Mulenga and Felix Bulaya scoring for the home side while Tafadzwa Rusike and Taonga Bwembya scored the two goals for the visitors.

The 2016 Champions have only managed to keep two clean sheets in 14 games, in a nill all draw against Zesco United and a one nil win in the reverse fixture against Nakambala Leopards at Sunset stadium.
