Mini bus knocks down 10 year old boy

A 10 year old boy of Chirundu is nursing serious injuries in a local hospital after being hit by a speeding motor vehicle yesterday.
Chirundu Zambia police station identified the victim as Innocent Mwamba of Christian compound.
The accident happened on the Lusaka-Chirundu Road at a place called Gosemi at around 12:40hours.
Chirundu district commissioner Mr Alfred Hamunjo who also confirmed the accident appealed to motorists to observe traffic rules and exercise patience on the road.
Mwamba was hit by a Toyota hiace minibus driver by a man only identified as Lungu of Chirundu who was currently on the run.
Mwamba sustained a fractured left leg, bruised right side of the head and left arms and was receiving treatment at Mtendere mission hospital.
On Thursday two people were slightly injured in an accident involving an international truck and a small Toyota car between Tauya Lodge and Oasis Truck Park.
The accident happened when the truck driver was overtaking another vehicle whose speed he miscalculated distance and ended up colliding head on.
The driver of the truck and his lorry boy sustained slight injuries and were rushed to Mtendere mission hospital while the driver of the small car sustained body pains.
