Water blues hit Chilenje’s Ma Plot area

Serious water shortage has hit Chilenje’s Ma plot area and residents have appealed to authorities to come to their aid.
One of the residents Faith Nakalumbi said water supply to the area had been erratic for the past 9 years.
Ms Nakalumbi said residents survived on little water they collected from neighboring communities.
“At the same time water from our neighbors is not enough and there are complaints from them about high water bills because of us,” said Ms Nakalumbi.
She complained her great grandmother left behind a bill of K2, 000 but had now reached K8, 000 and it would be impossible to settle.
That prompted the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) to remove the meter and the pipes which was supplying water.
