ZESCO United loss to ZANACO last Saturday should not be blamed on the goalkeeper alone but the entire team, says coach George Lwandamina.
Lwandamina said he did not like to talk about individual players but stressed that football was a sport of team work and his goalkeeper Jacob Banda had people on the pitch that should have protected him.
The coach came to the defence of Banda who had a bad afternoon on Saturday as ZANACO humiliated ZESCO 4-1 at Sunset Stadium to stay top of Stream A.
“I don’t like to talk about individual players. Jacob was not playing alone. Unless you are saying the ball went directly to Jacob from the kick off but they were people who should have protected him,”
“If you lose, you lose as eleven that’s what I know unless otherwise,” said Lwandamina
Lwandamina said the Saturday game was very difficult and that his team lost it in the first half as they did not organize themselves in good time.
He observed that his team gave away very easy goals which cost them victory.

The veteran Zesco goalkeeper Banda had an afternoon not to forget as his errors cost his team victory and was later substituted in the first half after Zanaco went up three-nil .
The bankers were 3-0 up in the first 30 minutes, thanks to goals from Souleymanou Moussa, Tafadzwa Rusike and Chitiya Mususu.
Logic Ching’andu came from the bench to reduce the deficit for Zesco but Zanaco midfielder, Enerst Mbewe restored parity eight minutes to time as the bankers claimed an emphatic 4-1 victory to shoot to the summit of the table.
