A BLIND woman of Makeni Simson, and mother of eight has appealed to government and other well-wishers to empower her financially so that she can take care of her children.
In an interview with The Sun, the blind woman only identified as Bana Mapalo said she had financial difficulties and her only source of income was asking for alms in town with the help of her three children she moved with every day.
Bana Mapalo said she had tried to seek financial help from social welfare so that her children could go to school but she never got any help adding that, asking for donations was the only way she could take her children to school and feed them.
“I am a mother of eight children and four have completed school and the other four are still in school. The challenge I have is that l cannot manage taking them to school and feeding them,

“My husband died and when the kids close school, I go with them in town to help beg for money from people on the street and when they are given by good Samaritans they bring to me and l keep that money. This is the same money that helps me to take them to school,” she said

She used to sell fruits in Longacres unfortunately her business collapsed and there was no one to help her restart it.
Bana Mapalo said if empowered financially, she would be able to take her children to college and keep them away from the streets.
Meanwhile one of her son’s Langton ,6, said he came with his mum in town every day when schools closed to help her raise money.
He said whatever money he was given, he took straight to his mother.
