A RESIDENT of Lusaka’s Chazanga compound woke up to a rude shock after a dead body of a young man was dumped in her yard by unknown people on April 11.
Ms Jessie Munkonge, a landlord, said she was horrified to hear her son screaming that there was a dead body that had dumped in her yard.
Ms Munkonge told the Sun that she rushed outside and found the body of an unidentified man between the ages of 20 and 26 was dumped in her yard by unknown suspected killers.

She narrated that it was her son who discovered the body which was left near their pit latrine entrance when he went to answer the call of nature and later informed her of the discovery.
“My son woke up early in the morning to go and answer the call of nature when he found the body just at the entrance of our pit latrine. He came back running into the house shouting ‘mother, mother I found a body of a dead person with three deep cuts on the arm.

“That is how I woke up and after seeing the body, I immediately
She also confirmed that the corpse had cuts on the right arm and did not know why the killers decided to dump the body at her house.
She further said after reporting the matter to police around 06.00 hours it was only collected after two hours around 08.00 hours.
Ms Munkonge said that was the second case within two months when another dead body was dumped in the neighborhood after being killed somewhere.

She expressed concern over the increase in people being attacked in the area and called on the police to intensify patrols.
And a bar lady at a nearby drinking place identified as Matilda said the man was believed to be a bus conductor within the area.
Meanwhile another resident of Chazanga Mr John Phiri observed that the increase in crime was due to the increase in the population in the area.

Mr Phiri said the area was peaceful in the past but that due to too many people that had moved to the area, the crime rate had increased.
But when contacted for a comment Zambia police spokesperson Esther Katongo said the man had not yet been identified and that police suspected he could have died from natural causes contrary to what the owner of the house where he was found may have suspected.
