POLICE in Mafinga have arrested a 42 year old man for allegedly defiling his 14 year old biological daughter.
Muchinga Province Police Commissioner, Joel Njase, said Winstone Muwowo, 42, of Nzimu village in Chief Mwenechifungwe’s area was found having canal knowledge of her biological daughter over a week ago by his wife who late reported the matter to the police.
‘‘We received a report of defilement case reported on 27/03/2019 in which a 14 year old juvenile of Nzimu Village in Chief Mwenechifungwe’s of District Mafinga was allegedly defiled the suspect being her biological father Winston Muwowo of the same abode, who later ran away.’’Mr Njase said.
Mr Njase said the suspect was apprehended yesterday on Thursday around 16:00 hours after a tip off from the members of the public that he was back in the village and was hiding in his house.
‘‘Police promptly acted on the report and managed to apprehend the suspect who is currently in police custody and will appear in court soon,’’ he said.
In another development, a woman in her 40s is battling for her life at Muyombe Clinic after she was struck by lightning.
Mr Njase said Elizabeth Mutambo was struck on Friday around 14:30 hours in Chimilila village in Chief Muyombe’s area at her house.
‘‘A report was received from Judith Nalubonde, aged 45, of Chimilila village in Chief Muyombe’s area of Mafinga who reported on behalf of her sister Elizabeth Mutambo, of the same abode, to the effect that she was struck by lightning at her house in Chimilila village and sustained severe general body pains and is currently admitted at Muyombe clinic.’’ Mr Njase said.
