GOVERNMENT has been commended for its planned reduction of school fees in public learning institutions.

A Chirundu resident, Jonathan Lwando, told The Sun in an interview that the reduction of school fees will result in increased enrolment in both primary and secondary schools.

He said the announcement could not come at a better time than now when government is contemplating providing education to all Zambians.

Mr Lwando said that government has put education as a priority area and the reduction of fees would help to achieve that.

He appealed to stakeholders in the education sector to adhere to the government directive and reduce school fees in term two.

Mr. Lwando said many children in district will benefit from the reduction of fees considering the high poverty levels there.

He called upon parents to take advantage of the reduced schools fees and send their children to school.

Mr. Lwando said no parent should have any excuse for not sending their children to school when the fees have been slashed.
