Police in Chongwe have released, on police bond, the man who reportedly scorched his biological daughter with hot water on Tuesday to stop her from marrying a man of her choice.

The Sun has learnt that Conrad Chimbulu, who was arrested and detained at Chalimbana Police Post on Tuesday, had been granted police bond on Wednesday afternoon “in order to go and nurse his daughter’s burns.

“Mr. Chimbulu is not the only available relative to nurse the victim. The step mother and two step children are there and they can nurse her, unless someone says they have refused,” stated one of the neighbours, Mildred Sichaamba, in a telephone interview.

Ms. Sichaamba wondered how Mr. Chimbulu would be expected to properly nurse the daughter when he, in the first place, scotched her out of bitterness.

The victim, Esther Chimbulu, has told The Sun that she was forced to live with her father, Mr Chibulu, despite his cruelty because she did not know her biological mother or any of her relatives.

Mr. Chimbulu on Tuesday night poured hot water on Esther after an altercation over Bestern Sitali, the man she sought to marry, but whom her dad did not approve of.
