A SOLWEZI shylock has dragged a borrower to court for falling to pay back K1, 500 loan with interest which has been outstanding for over eight months.
Gracious Kaputula sued Clever Kapokoso in the Solwezi Local Court after for failing to pay back her money.
Kaputula told Magistrate Maureen Chindumba sitting with Magistrate Jonathan Maluti and magistrate Chrispin Mutanda that on February 17 last year Kapokoso obtained a loan of K1, 500 which he promised to pay back at the month end with interest but did not do so.
She told the court that she one day met him in the bank withdrawing money but when she asked for her loan back he shoved her off and started calling her names.
“I gave this man the loan he requested for with no problems but when it was his turn to pay back he became unruly, so I brought him to court so he can cooperate,” she said.
Kapokoso admitted obtaining the K1,500 loan but he gave Kaputula his ATM card to withdraw her money while he was working with First Quantum Minerals Ltd (FQM) company.
He said before his contract ended she had his ATM for 8 months and could have been withdrawing her money every time he got paid.
The court ruled that Kapokoso was wrong to give his ATN card to Kaputula to withdraw the money when it was his responsibility to do so.
Magistrate Chindumba ordered Kapokoso to pay K750 for the 8 months he kept Kaputula waiting and another K750 for the loan.
