The local authority advertised for plots in October last year and many people applied and paid for the plots.

Some residents wondered why the local authority was not handing over the plots because they had already paid for them.

John Chikupili, a resident, said he was among successful applicants but had not been shown the plot.

“We used the right channel to pay for the plots but since October last year the plots have not been handed to the rightful owners and we do not know why the council is taking forever to show us the plots,” he said.

Residents have since called on the council to ensure plots are handed to them as soon as possible because the delay was raising concern.

Peter Mwafulilwa said he was shortlisted among the successful applicants, but had not been allocated the plot yet, despite several reminders to the local authority.

Ndola Mayor Amon Chisenga said after the council advertised for plots and asked people to pay other people went to court.

He said the delay in giving out plots was because the council had to clear some cases in court.

“I am happy to inform the public that most of the cases have been sorted out therefore, the council will soon start giving plots to all those that paid,” he said .

The Mayor further warned the public to be alert of people claiming they had won the case against the council.

He said the council had entered into a consent judgment with a few people and no one had the right to sell any land except the council and the Ministry of Lands.
