THE Boma local court has ordered a Chalala social worker Mwenda Mutukwa to pay back the K6,000 he borrowed from his work mate.

Mutukwa appeared before senior local court magistrates NgandweMukuka and Martha Tembo was sued by Francis Mulala,31, of Kamwala for refund of the borrowed money.

Mulala explained that in January 2018 Mutukwa approached him that he needed money for his business.

“He had asked for a K5,000 and I agreed and lend him the money, We agreed that he will pay back the money in three months’ time, but he did not,

“He kept giving excuses when the time came for him to pay back the money, that he didn’t have the money, thereafter, he told me that he was facing problems in his business and could not pay me,” Mulala said.

Mutukwa later asked for more time but had not paid anything since then.

“I want my money to be refunded with interest owing to the fact that it has been overdue,”Mulala said.

Mutukwa admitted having borrowed money from his colleague.

“Apart from being a social worker I supply pineapples and I needed money for my business partner,

“Unfortunately, the truck we use for distribution of the pineapples was involved in an accident and we lost a lot of money,” Mutukwasaid.

He said he had been experiencing financial difficulties since then as all the money was spent on fixing to the truck.

“I understand the money is overdue but I am asking for three months to refund the money because by that time the truck will be on the move,” Mutukwa said.

The court then ordered Mutukwa to pay to instead pay Mulala K6, 000.
