NORTH-WESTERN Province Police Commissioner Hudson Namachila has urged residents of Kabompo and Zambezi districts to draw water from wells to avoid crocodile attacks.

Mr. Namachila’s advice comes in the wake of the death of a 14-year-old girl who was recently snatched by a crocodile from Zambezi River banks in Zambezi district

In an interview, the police chief also confirmed receiving a report of another death in which a woman was attacked by a crocodile as she was drawing water for domestic use.

He identified the woman as Brenda Salumayi of Mpidi compound and wife of Sapetulo Lowelu of the same area.

“The woman was caught by a crocodile along the Zambezi River on 22nd February 2019 at about 18:30 hours when she had gone to draw water,” Mr. Namachila said.

He said the search for the late Ms. Salumayi’s body has continued.
