Woman finds hubby gone on return from market

A man has appeared in court for deserting his matrimonial house and wanting to live with his young sister.

The man is reported to have hoodwinked his wife by sending her to the market and when she returned, she found him gone along with his luggage.

Tamulo Nyirenda 20 of Kabushi Township has sued her husband Obed Lungu of the same township for divorce.

“He sent me to the market to buy some groundnuts but by the time I returned, he had left with his stuff,” she said.

The two were married in 2011 and have one child and the woman is two months pregnant.

Ms Nyirenda narrated before the court that when they got married, they had no problems in their marriage until this year when the husband decided to pack and leave their matrimonial home.

The case came before Kabushi local court presiding magistrate Mildred Namwizye sitting with Evelyn Nalwizya.

She said he only wanted to have food prepared by his young sister and always accused her of not liking his sister.

“He does not care about me, he knows I am pregnant and I am on medication since I am HIV positive,” she said.

She said she was shocked to find he had left when they were not having any disputes.

In defence, Mr Lungu said whenever the sister was around his wife would leave the house to stay with her parents and could only return home once he knocked off from work.

He said before he married his wife, he used to live with his sister so there was no way he could abandon his relative. “If she does not want my sister to live in the house, I will leave with my sister because she has been with me even before I married this woman,” he said. The court did not grant divorce since the woman was pregnant and ordered Mr Lungu to support her until she gives birth
