SOME groups affiliated to Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) have demanded for the immediate removal of general secretary Bright Chomba for abuse of office.

But Chomba was reported to have misused funds amounting to K6,000 without authority, claimed he had since paid back the money as requested at a meeting held in June last year.

However ZBF officials who include president Dr Kennedy Mubita and vice-president Colonel Jack Mbewe both confirmed that Chomba had misused funds and had not yet paid back despite given a period to do so.

Speaking in an interview with the Sun Sports at the weekend on condition of anonymity, notable affiliate groups said Chomba should be suspended to pave way for an investigation into the missing funds.

They said that it would be difficult for them to pay affiliation fees until when Chomba was cleared of the allegations.

A Lusaka-based official said there was a need for ZBF to win back the confidence of affiliate groups, adding that appropriate disciplinary action must be taken against Chomba if he fails to prove that he had not misused funds.

Chomba however maintained that he used the money to run ZBF affairs.
