FLOWER pots production has slowed down due to the rains thereby affecting revenue earning.

According to one of the flower pot makers, Nephas Chulu of Lusaka, business has been considerably affected by rains.

Mr Chulu told the Sun in an interview that most people were not buying the vessels because they rarely planted new flowers ion the rainy season.

“On what we sell, well, it depends on how business is on that day, sometimes we go without selling any and sometimes we sell more than we expect.

“Business is slow because of the rains, this season people do not usually plant new flowers, so it is slow for now. I have been doing this for three years now and so far so good,” Mr Chulu said.

Mr Chulu also complained of high prices for cement which were eating into their profit margins

“Prices of flower pots range from K30 to K250, we have some for K450 depending on the size and design. We get the quarry locally. The prices for the quarry is okay, it is just the cement which is on the higher side,

“The profit is fair, at least from what we spend, we are able to get half of that amount as profit,” he said.
