ACC ARREST CABINET MINISTER

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested Housing and Infrastructure Minister Ronald Chitotela for concealing property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

ACC Assistant Public Relations Manager Dorothy Mwanza has told journalists that Mr Chitotela 47 has been charged with two counts of concealing property suspected to be proceeds of crime, contrary to section 71 subsection (1) of the forfeiture of proceeds of crime act number 19 of 2010.
Details of the first count are that on dates unknown but between the 1 st of July 2016 and 30th of October 2018 in Lusaka district, Chitotela did conceal a property namely plot number 148 of farm 50A situated in Makeni disguised in the name of Doris Mubanga, property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Mr Chitotela was questioned at the ACC offices this afternoon and has been released on police bond and walked out of the ACC offices at 16:58 hours afternoon.
When asked for a comment after the arrest, he could not respond to the media as he walked to his car.
