PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu yesterday morning, joined scores of staff from state-owned and private enterprises in a 12 kilometre “keep fit” jog along State Loge Road.

Some senior government officials, including Lusaka Province minister Bowman Lusambo, also took part in the running exercise which brought together workers from ZAMTEL, the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) and the National Airports Corporation (NAC).

The other participants were from the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO), Barclays Bank and Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

During the exercise, President Lungu praise the ZRA management for its efforts to strengthening tax compliance amongst citizens.

He said, “Ba ZRA, ba Kingsley Chanda is doing very well. Ngabamipata abantu as tax collectors ninshi mulechita bwino” (ZRA and Kingsley Chanda are doing well. If people hate you as tax collectors it means you are doing fine).

The President Lungu thanked all the people who participated in the early morning run for supporting his “keep-fit initiative”

The President launched his keep-fit initiative last year and has been encouraging all citizens to participate in the physical exercise which he says can also be a good remedy for non-communicable diseases, particularly for the aged.
