ZAMBIA’S celebrated FIFA referee Janny Sikazwe’ ban has been lifted by the Confederations of African Football (CAF) disciplinary board with immediate effect.

The lifting of Sikazwe’s ban was communicated through a CAF statement accessed by The Sun Sports , which said that the disciplinary body of continental Governing board  could not find any evidence of misconduct against the Zambian referee.

“After having toughly checked the elements presented to them regarding the violation by Mr. Sikazwe of CAF regulations in particular acts. 82,136,152 of the CAF disciplinary code , the disciplinary board decided that there is no sufficient evidence to implicate the involvement of Mr. Janny Sikazwe regarding the allegation of corruption made against him, therefore the disciplinary board decides that the provisional suspension of Mr. Sikazwe is lifted,’’ said the statement.

Sikazwe was banned in November 2018 following a complaint by Angolan Club, Premeiro de Agusto in a game the Zambian referee officiated between Premeiro and Tunisia’s Esperance where the former lost.

According to FAZ General secretary Adrian Kashala, Sikazwe had written an exculpatory letter to Africa’s soccer governing body as per guidelines.

The Kapiri-based whistle man has been Zambia’s foremost celebrated FIFA referee having officiated at the highest levels including last year’s FIFA World Cup and 2017 FIFA Club World Cup.
