I HAVE been unfairly accused of not developing my constituency because I have not received the Community Development Funds (CDF), says PF Matero constituency Member of Parliament Lloyd Kaziya.
Mr Kaziya who however confirmed having recently received his first K1.6 million CDF since 2016 said no MP could bring development without government’s support.
The former Minister of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection lamented that some people in his constituency who did not understand the role of an MP unfairly called him ‘useless’, adding that he could not single-handedly develop the area minus government’s support.
“For your own information and the people of Matero, I have just received my first CDF since 2016. Do not be cheated that MPs bring development to their constituencies, as goal posts between government and the people, we rely on government’s support through CDF to take development to our constituencies,” Mr Kaziya said.
He said MPs lobbied from government institutions or ministries on what should be done in their constituencies.
Mr Kaziya said it was too early for the people of Matero constituency to judge him as he was making every effort to deliver to their expectations.
Mr Kaziya said now that he had received his first CDF, he would ensure some of the challenges his electorates were faced with were tackled.
He challenged the CDF committee to ensure that projects proposals that were done previously were updated in terms of cost adjustments due to time laps and price variances. “We want more health and police posts in our various communities, work on main drainages and other amenities as the committee deems appropriate to allocate from CDF,” Mr Kaziya said.
