THE Boma Local Court in Lusaka has ordered a man of Chunga to compensate a woman of Lusaka West with K13, 000 for damaging her daughter’s virginity.

Matildah Kalonga, 55, told Senior Local Court Magistrate Contilda Kamono that in 2015 when she discovered her daughter was pregnant, she mentioned Martin Dausi as being the one responsible.

“I went to his place to discuss the matter but instead his mother insulted us. His uncle tried to talk to her and stop her from insulting and she told her son to leave the place,” Ms Kalonga said.

“My daughter gave birth and it was Mr Dausi’s uncle who bought everything for the child. Unfortunately after three weeks the child died and Mr Dausi again impregnated my daughter and she had a child,” Ms Kalonga said.

In defence Mr Dausi did not deny the allegations of impregnating Ms Kalonga’s daughter the first rime but told the court that he had doubts about the second pregnancy.

“For the second pregnancy, she only told me she was pregnant when it was 7 months and later on told me that I have a child with her  it  was 4 months old,” Mr Dausi said.

He denied breaking Ms Kalonga’s child’s virginity but only knew that he gave her the first child.

He also agreed to compensate Ms Kalonga but would only manage to do so in installments.

The case was proved and Magistrate Kamono ordered Mr Dausi to compensate Ms Kalonga with K13, 000 in monthly installments of K500 effective June month end.
