AN activist has repaired desks at Kamfinsa Community School in Kitwe as a way of contributing to society especially to the less privileged and vulnerable children

Kelvin Chipili said in Kitwe yesterday that it was important to appreciate the plight of the vulnerable people in society and render help where possible.
In an interview after repairing the desks and handing them to the school administration, Mr Chipili said he would continue to work closely with the communities and also help resolve some of the challenges.
“It’s is only by understanding the challenges of the people in communities that I would be able to communicate with them effectively. So today, I decided to work with the community and school administration at Kamfinsa community school to repair the 50 broken damaged desks.
“It is a small piece of work, but it will help the school. The constituency needs leaders who will always be on the ground with the people and not leaders who will not serve communities,” Mr Chipili said
Some residents who were involved in the repairing of desks, said it was sad that some councillors and Members of Parliament (MPs) had proved to be incompetent, hence the need to scrutinise all community leaders.
Salome Kabuka said the residents in the area were hoping that some councillors in Kamfinsa constituency who were involved in illegal sale of land would be punished and regretted that they had not been serving the people.
“It is sad that, as Kamfinsa constituency, the last few MPs and councillors we have had, have left nothing worth identifying. Some councillors have been on rampage engaging in illegal sale of land. This is sad,” Ms Kabuka said.
Mr Chipili is aspiring to stand as MP in Kamfinsa constituency under the Patriotic Front.
