HH does not care about civil servants, says Mwenya Musenge – as he describes the 10.5 percent salary increase awarded to civil servants as a mockery

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema and his new dawn administration have done little or nothing to motivate civil servants who voted for him on the promise of better conditions of service, Advocates for People’s Prosperity (APP) interim president Mwenya Musenge has said.
Mr Musenge said it was unfortunate that the UPND had failed to fulfil its campaign promises and was instead manufacturing excuses to mock Zambians about their suffering.
Mr Musenge said the 10.5 percent salary increase awarded to civil servants was a mockery because public service workers such as teachers and nurses expected more from President Hichilema, given his campaign promises to improve the welfare of workers.
Mr Musenge said in an interview that civil servants were burdened with debt, poverty and hunger because they were not motivated due to poor remuneration.
He said it was sad that while civil servants were burdened with debt and were struggling financially, some ministers were posting videos of themselves enjoying life in Seychelles on social media.
“Well, it’s not an offenxe to go out and enjoy but if you send videos to the majority poverty stricken Zambians in which you are dancing and enjoying yourself with women, then people, especially the hunger and poverty stricken ones will think you are mocking them. This is a minister whom during campaigns promised to live with the poor in communities, Mr Musenge said
