THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has wished Enock Mwepu a quick recovery after the former Chipolopolo captain who is admitted at the National Heart Hospital suffered a cardiac arrest.
Mwepu is alleged to have fallen ill as he was driving along the Great North Road.
“We wish our former captain Enock Mwepu a quick recovery as he recuperates at the National Heart Hospital,” FAZ president Andrew Kamanga said.
Sunday’s incident is said to have occurred while Mwepu was driving on the Great North Road towards Kabangwe area and his car was seen swerving.
“Mwepu was driving along Great North Road near Kabangwe area, he was heading out of town,” a source told the Zambian outlet. “So, it’s like he started having obvious heart issues. When he started having cardiac arrest, he started driving zig zag. Then he eventually parked, and came out of the vehicle and fell.”
Meanwhile, Brighton and Hove Albion said “Our medical team is in communication with the hospital to assist if required. The club would like to thank the many well-wishers for their messages and support.”
“The club nor Enock wish to provide any further comment at this stage,” it said in a statement.
At 24 years old, Mwepu was compelled to hang up his boots after he was diagnosed with a hereditary heart condition.
The condition forced Brighton and Hove Albion to name Mwepu as coach of their Under-9 Academy.
