The Young people against Violence- NIPAV has reported former Kwacha Member of Parliament Joe Malanji to the Anti-Corruption Commission for alleged corrupt practices following his successfully filing in of nomination papers in the 2021 election when he did not possess a grade 12 certificate.
The Constitutional Court last week upheld the high Court’s ruling to nullify the election of Mr Malanji as Kwacha Constituency Member of Parliament on basis that he did not possess a grade 12 certificate at the time of his re-election.
NIPAV Executive Director Moses Kalonde says the nation has been left wondering how the former lawmaker filed his nomination without a grade 12 certificate when it’s a constitutional requirement.
Mr Kalonde says there is cause to suspect that there was an element of corruption, bribery or even inducement among the three players namely Mr Malanji, Examinations Council of Zambia and the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
