Expectations are high among health professional bodies ahead of the announcement of successful candidates in the health workers recruitment exercise.

Government is expected to announce the 11 200 names of candidates who have been recruited in the health sector.

Some unemployed health workers have over the last few months been at loggerheads with government citing delay and lack of clear roadmap in the recruitment process.

But Biomedical Association of Zambia president Daniel Mwimbe is hopeful that the recruitment will not be pushed any further than Friday.

Mr Mwimbe says the process has dragged for a long time and the association is hopeful that come Friday the names will be released.

And Mr Mwimbe also says the association is hopeful that the recruitment exercise has been corruption free and transparent.

Mr Mwimbe says he is also hopeful that all those who have been selected where picked based on merit and not any other grounds.

He says this is cardinal in the growth of the health sector and ensuring the provision of quality health care services to the people.

And Chairman of the unemployed Doctors Wallace Ndumba says the government must be commended for fulfilling on what was promised to the unemployed health workers as well as the nation at large.

Dr Ndumba says the association is looking forward to more recruitment exercises.

He says there are still a lot of unemployed health workers that have been left out.
