GOVT HAS DISBURSED OVER K457 MILLION SOCIAL CASH TRANSFER

Government through the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has as at June 17th 2022 disbursed over, K457 million social cash transfer

Giving an update on the disbursement of the social cash transfer funds, Information and Media Minister Chushi Kasanda says government disbursed K457, 477, 708.40 Social Cash Transfer funds for May/June to the 116 districts across the country.

Ms. Kasanda says beneficiary households are entitled to K200.00 per month which they receive every two months as a sum of K400.00 while those with a member with severe disability receive K400.00 per month and K800.00 every two months

She further explained that government has remained consistent in the disbursement of Social Cash Transfer to beneficiaries across the country as provided for in the 2022 National Budget.

Ms. Kasanda says the beneficiaries include households with an elderly person, households with members with severe disability, households with members who are chronically ill and on palliative care, child-headed households and female-headed households with at least three children.

She says it is government’s resolve to ensure that the disbursement of the Social Cash Transfer remains constant and consistent for the benefit of the eligible households.

Ms. Kasanda says government is happy that the facility continues to impact positively on the lives of the people and has appealed to the beneficiaries to get in touch with the District Welfare Assistance Committees in their respective districts to access their funds.
