GOVERNMENT COMMITS TO ENACTING THE REFUGEE POLICY

Home affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwimbu says government is committed to ensure that the refugee policy is enacted before the end of the year.

Speaking during the commemoration of the World Refugee day under the theme seeking Asylum for protection and Safety, Mr Mwimbu says soon government will embark on the consultation process for the enactment of the refugee policy therefore calling for stakeholders to make their submissions.
And Mr Mwimbu says government is committed in enhancing security for refugees in various camps.
He says government will ensure that challenges being faced by refugees are addressed
Meanwhile United Nations for Refuge Representative Pierrine Aylara has called on government to consider easing legal restrictions when it comes to the movement of refugees in the country.
Ms. Ayalara says it is regrettable that the immigration department has continued harassing refugees due to strict legal restrictions
