LUSAMBO EYEING PRESIDENCY?

I will not recontest my parliamentary seat in 2026 but consider other political avenues, Patriotic Front’s Kabushi Member of Parliament, Bowman Lusambo has said.

Mr Lusambo, an outspoken politician who became Kabushi MP in 2016 and retained his seat in the 2021 general elections said he would not go beyond 2026 as a lawmaker for the same constituency.

He said Kabushi was not his personal to holder constituency that he would continue after 2026, but he shall allow others to take up the mantle from him.

Mr Lusambo, who was elusive to pinpoint that he would be running for the republican Presidency said he would consider other political avenues.

“I can assure you that I will not recontest my seat in 2026. I have been an MP, I have been a minister and it will be time to explore other avenues in politics,” Mr Lusambo said.

He was however quick to mention that he would work with any person that the party would decide to stand on its ticket as Presidential candidate in 2026.

Asked if he would contest the party presidency at the forthcoming extraordinary convention slated for June this year, Mr Lusambo said he was would not as he was preoccupied with serving the people of Kabushi for the next five years.

Meanwhile, Mr Lusambo said contrary to what some Government officials were claiming, there was a shortage of drugs in most health facilities in his constituency.

“I heard some government officials the other day that medicines were flowing in the country, to the contrary in most health facilities that I have visited in my constituency, there are no medicines,” he said.

He said instated of politicking the matter, Government must urgently procure medicines to save people`s lives.
