AFTER Zesco United broke the shocking news about their living legend, Jesse Were leaving the club after spending five seasons in Ndola and scoring over 100 goals in the process, a number of Zambian clubs have expressed interest to sign the Kenyan international.

Kitwe giants, Nkana FC and Power Dynamos and a number of midlands clubs were reported to be interested in the Kenyan lethal top man who scored 108 goals during his five-year stay at Zesco United.

However, Solwezi-based Super League outfit, Kansanshi Dynamos are said to be closing in on taking the Kenyan international to the mining town.

The 32-year old striker is said to be eager to join the MTN Super League new comers as they reinforce their squad in a bid to avoid the drop.

According to sources, Kansanshi are determined to sign Were to strengthen their squad ahead of the second round set to resume next weekend.

Kansanshi Dynamos finished the first round of the Super League on 12th position with 20 points from five wins, five draws and seven losses. Meanwhile, Kitwe rivals Nkana FC and Power Dynamos are chasing after the signature of Buildcon striker Brian Mwila.

Mwila impressed with four goals in the first round of the Super League to attract interests from the Kitwe giants. Power are also chasing the services of Were who is reported to have agreed terms with Kansanshi Dynamos.

According to sources at Power Dynamos, Mwila and Were are deemed as a perfect replacement for Alex Ngonga who joined rival club Nkana FC last season.
