Police arrests ten UPND supporters and refutes attacking opposition camp

Police in Luapula province have arrested ten members of the opposition united party for national development for conduct likely to breach peace and Assault on police.
Meanwhile the police has also refuted reports that police working together with cadres of the Patriotic Front attacked peaceful UPND cadres including its UPND running mate Mutale Nalumango.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo says this follows an incident which two police officers were assigned to monitor the procession of Mutale Nalumango, the UPND Presidential running mate where attacked by a mob of UPND cadres.
Ms Katongo says the police were alerted by chief retainer were Ms Nalumango went to pay courtesy call on Senior Chief Mununga on which the police sent reinforcement and managed to arrest 10 suspected UPND cadres for the subject offences.
She says No such incident occurred except for the violent conduct of suspected UPND cadres which led to the arrest of 10.
