The Forum for African Women Educationists in Zambia FAWEZA says there is need for traditional leadership to come up with by-laws aimed at ensuring adequate protection of girls against sexual abuse.
FAWEZA Executive Director Costern Kanchele says the headmen needs to come up with workable solutions that will enhance the protection of girls against being taken advantage of.
Mr Kanchele says what has been witnessed during the covid-19 induced prolonged school closures where girls have been more vulnerable to abuse is an indication that lasting solutions are needed to protect the girl child.
Mr Kanchele says being custodians of tradition and being respected, traditional leaders must come up with by-laws aimed at ensuring girls do not fall prey to sexual abuse.
