Written by on August 3, 2021

Stakeholders have expressed shock over the abruptly reopening of the schools for grades 7, 9 to 12 classes slated for Thursday, 5th August 2021.

Yesterday Government announced grades 7, 9, 11 and 12 for day schools and grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 for boarding schools will open for lessons this Thursday stating that the decision is aimed at allowing pupils to catch up with the syllabus.

But National Action for Quality Education in Zambia   executive director Aaron Chansa says the decision by government to open schools for certain grade abruptly is shocking because all Zambians were preparing for 16th August.

And Mr Chansa says the reopening of schools during the election period will disadvantage learners.

However Private School and college association has backed the decision by government to reopen examination classes.

Association Chairperson Peter Chileya says the prolonged closure of schools would have affected   learners in examination classes.
