Government explains school calendar and fees

Government has explained that no pupil will be required to pay school fees when schools reopen on 5th of August as it will be a continuation of the second team of the school calendar.

Yesterday, Government announced that grades 7, 9, 11 and 12 for day schools and grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 for boarding schools will open for lessons this Thursday.

Ministry of General Education Jobbicks Kalumba explained that the second term will run from August 5 to September 27, while the third term will run from September 28 to December 10.

Speaking during a media briefing this afternoon Dr Kalumba says the school calendar needs to be respected by all schools including those in the private sector are encouraged to comply.

Dr Kalumba has appealed to stakeholders mostly NGOs to support government’s push to ensure learners are not adversely affected by closures due to covid.
