Ministry of Health downplays shortage of drugs

The Ministry of Health has downplayed the concerns raised by some members of the public over the shortage of essential medicines in some health facilities.

But a check by Millennium radio revealed that some patients were being given prescription on drugs such as metronidazole commonly known as Flagyl, paracetamol among others essential drugs.

And the patient’s spokesperson too told millennium radio that it is worrying that government health facilities can be failing to dispense simple drugs such as panadol

But Ministry of Health spokesperson Abel Kabalo says there has been constant supply of drugs to health farcicalities stating that he does not expect to receive reports of shortages of drugs.

Dr. Kabalo has however indicated that the ministry will commence investigations to establish what is obtaining on the ground from the complaints received.
