J & J vaccination to commence Friday

The Ministry of Health says it will commence the administration of Johnson and Johnson vaccine in Lusaka on Friday the 23 of July 2021.
Zambia yesterday received the first consignment of 151, 200 doses of the Johnsons and Johnson’s covid19 vaccine under the COVAX facility.
Ministry of Health permanent secretary Dr. Kennedy Malama has cautioned the general public against getting three different doses as a booster stating that the ministry will guide on what is expected.
Dr Malama has further appealed to district health director to widely dissemination information on vaccination centres to avoid people moving around chasing vaccines.
He so far 3,525 have received dose one of the AstraZeneca vaccine while 3,354 have received dose 2 of AstraZeneca vaccine.
And Dr Malama says more than 15 percent of covid-19 patients admitted to various isolation centres are in critical conditions.
He says in the last 24 hours Zambia recorded 1,158 new covid-19 cases out of 6,167 tests conducted with 34 deaths.
He says 1,751 premises were inspected out of which 87 percent were compliant, 212 issued with notices and 19 were closed down.
