Various opposition political party leaders this morning turned up in numbers to witness the final funeral procession of Zambia’s founding President Kenneth Kaunda at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
Among the notables in attendance include; the UPND Alliance, FDD, PNUP, PAC and Socialist party leaders among others.
UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema says there is need for all to focus on how Dr Kaunda’s legacy can live on by practicing what he stood for which is unity, development and his contribution in the liberation struggle.
And Socialist Party presidential candidate Fred M’membesays the death of Dr Kaunda is a loss of an apostle in the liberation struggle whose life should be celebrated and his path followed.
Meanwhile, Forum for Democracy and Development leader Edith Nawakwi says today is the saddest day in Africa and particularly Zambia having lost the last standing nationalist and Pan-Africanist, Dr Kaunda.
And Heritage Party Presidential Candidate ChishalaKateka has described Dr Kaunda’s lifetime as amazing having given up the presidency which proves that there is life after the presidency unlike clinging on to power at all cost.
