Covid19 dose one vaccination to commence on 9th July, as covid kills 59 people in 24 hours

Ministry of Health has dispelled reports that it started giving out the covid19 dose 1 administration vaccines stating that the date for the commencement of Dose 1 has been set for this Friday, 9th July, 2021.

Meanwhile Zambia has recorded 59 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.

And in the last 24 hours, 1,871 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were recorded out of 7,635 tests conducted.

Ministry of Health permanent secretary for technical services Kennedy Malama says government will provide a packaged update tomorrow on how it will precede with the side by side administration of both dose 1 and dose 2.

Dr Malama says there will be an improvement in the availability of vaccines in the third and fourth quarter of this year, urging members of the members of the public to not panic as government remains committed to ensuring that all the 8,4 million people eligible for the vaccine have access in the shortest possible time.

He also in the last 24 hours 2,354 Dose 2 AstraZeneca vaccinations were administered.

Meanwhile Dr Malama says in the last 24 hours, during the Lusaka operation 28 drinking premises, including 6 nightclubs and 16 bars were closed for abrogating guidelines.
