The Private Sector Development Association PSDA has advised government to consider imposing penalties and fines on service providers as a step to stem covid-19 infections instead of a total lockdown.
PSDA Chairperson Yusuf Dodia says public health is number one priority and if government decides to be tough on measures to curtail spread, it should take the necessary action.
Mr Dodia is of the view that the action should be on penalties and fines on service providers for those disregarding guidelines while allowing the economy to continue to operate under managed conditions.
Mr Dodia says in the long run, while ensuring the protection of public health and business survival, it will require government support by making sure internet and phone access is made affordable for easy access.
