The Movement for National Transformation (MNT) has called for a lockdown in Lusaka to allow mass-disinfection of public places and screening of covid19 following a spike in cases.
Over the past seven days, the county has been recording an average of 50 deaths and over 2, 000 infections in a single day, thereby overwhelming health facilities and leading to a shortage of space in hospitals and mortuaries.
Party president Daniel Shimunza says it is prudent that government considers to lockdown Lusaka for some few days because it is the breeding point of new infections.
Mr. Shimunza explains that in as much as a lockdown has its disadvantages on people’s livelihoods, it is prudent before so many lives are lost.
